Original vs Compatible Blinds for VELUX Windows
If you are choosing between an original VELUX blind and a compatible one, the useful comparison is not the badge — it is fit, fabric, operation and what you need to check before ordering.
What 'original' and 'compatible' mean
An original blind is made and branded by the window manufacturer and sold through their own channels. A compatible blind is made by another manufacturer to fit the same window.
Bizzy Blinds makes compatible blinds. We are an independent supplier and are not affiliated with VELUX, and we say so plainly on every page.
Fit and sizing by window code
Both routes work the same way: the size code on your window's identification plate determines the blind. We make each blind to the code you give us, which is why we ask you to read the plate rather than measure the opening.
We do not claim to fit every roof window ever made. Our coverage is the list of size codes in our own data, and where a code is not listed we ask you to send it to us so we can check.
Fabrics and operation
Blackout and light-filtering fabrics are available on both routes, in a broad range of colours. Manual operation is standard, and a solar motorised upgrade is available across our range.
An optional remote-control add-on is available separately for solar blinds; confirm the current option in the configurator.
What to check before ordering
Whichever route you take, check the same four things: the exact size code, the model prefix, the fabric type and the control option. Getting the code right is the single most important step.
Because every blind is made to order, made-to-order blinds cannot normally be returned once produced; Bizzy Blinds may still authorise a return in certain circumstances — see our returns policy.
Where compatible blinds differ
Compatible blinds are a different product from a different manufacturer, so the fabric range, colour names, fixings and packaging will not be identical to the original. Some people specifically want the manufacturer's own product and its branding, and that is a perfectly reasonable choice.
What we can speak to is our own: made in Ireland to your window code, supplied ready to fit, with support if anything is unclear.
How Bizzy makes blinds to your window code
You read the plate, enter the prefix and size code, choose the fabric, colour and control, and we make the blind to that size and deliver it nationwide.

Will a compatible blind fit my VELUX window?
It will if we make it to the size code on your window's identification plate and that code is in our coverage. Send us your code if you are unsure and we will confirm before you order.
Do compatible blinds come in the same fabrics?
Fabric ranges and colour names differ between manufacturers. We offer blackout and light-filtering fabrics in a broad range of colours, made to your window code.
Can I return a made-to-order blind?
Made-to-order blinds cannot normally be returned once produced, though Bizzy Blinds may authorise a return in certain circumstances. See our returns policy for the full detail.
